Beautifully situated in an unspoilt area of a Scottish Highland Estate are the Cairngorm Bothies. Each bothy provides comfortable accommodation for up to four people in the Cairngorm National Park.

Whether you’re looking for a romantic couples retreat, an adventure into the Highlands, or longing for an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, a stay in a Cairngorm Bothy will leave you feeling revitalized.

As the name suggests we took our inspiration from bothies. Upon approaching your individual bothy you will become immersed in an atmosphere of seclusion, mimicking that of the traditional mountain refuges the name originates from. Carefully constructed with the aim of creating as little disturbance to the surrounding forest as possible, each bothy is built elevated from the ground and set back into the rich lush healthy land. Our aim was integrate forest living whilst minimising the environmental impact. Each bothy has been strategically positioned to give an unspoilt view in to the forest so that guests can enjoys the woodland’s flora and fauna.

 

Our Story

Having lived and worked in the local area for generations we wanted to be able to welcome guests to share our special and unique part of Scotland. We all need to escape from time to time and where better than a forest hideaway on a Highland Estate – make it your own for a special break.

Carefully constructed from eco-friendly and sustainable materials, each bothy fits snugly into its surroundings, minimising its impact on the forestscape. Each with its own unique and idyllic setting, you’ll find the bothy that’s perfect for you. Each bothy is interiorly themed to follow rural employment type providing a distinctive personality.

 
 

Local Myths & Legends

The Blelack Woodlands estate where our bothies are situated can be traced to before 1500 and holds an interesting history of important Scottish figures. The estate was recently involved in an important archaeological discovery where the freshwater wells, Poldhu Wells, are said to have healing properties.

 
 

Flora & Fauna

You won’t be disappointed with the incredible nature and wildlife surrounding Cairngorm Bothies. The Scots pine woodlands of Blelack with a dense carpet beneath heather and blaeberry is a natural paradise. Whether you choose to spend the day relaxing on the decking at the lodges or spend hours walking through the forest you can’t fail to spot the tremendous selection of wildlife living on the estate.

 
 

The Cairngorms National Park

Officially opened in 2003, the park is 3,800 km in size; that’s bigger than the Lake District, and Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. The landscape is an unbeatable mix of rocky mountains, wild moorland, and glistening lochs with Royal Deeside at the heart of it all. The Cairngorms is Britain’s largest National Park boasting a variety of activities set against a backdrop of the breathtaking and protected landscape.
