In need of an escape break?

We used to work with a lovely Canadian gentleman who insisted that from time to time all staff take a mental health break. He truly believed that there were huge health benefits for us all to get away from it all, turn off the WiFi, and if you like, hide from the world. We suspect he also believed our productivity at work would increase upon our return and actually it did. Cairngorm Lodges are undoubtedly the perfect place to take a much needed mental health break to reflect and recharge. Once we’ve let you in to your lodge and checked you have everything you need, we leave you in peace to enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the Scots pine forest. Our estate is yours to enjoy for the duration of your break and unless you need us for anything we won’t disturb you.

We urge you to walk in our forests and enjoy the fresh air which will most definitely aid a good night’s sleep. Feel free to hug the trees and lie beneath them gazing up into the canopy overhead…be warned its very soporific and you may well nod off. Scientists tell us that they have proved forests are good for human health and spending time in them will improve our physical and mental health. Whilst we haven’t completed a scientific study we absolutely agree that a walk in the forest certainly makes us feel better. If your dogs are accompanying you on a trip to Cairngorm Lodges I’m quite sure you’ll get no arguments from them either!

If you don’t want to spend your whole break hiding in the forest then there are plenty of relaxing outings close by. From golf to castles to fishing to farmers markets and quaint tea rooms, we are so lucky to be able to offer those in search of a more relaxing break, something to do. The  following are just a small selection of events happening soon in the area which may be of interest;

North East Open Studios: this is an annual event where artists, makers and galleries throughout the area open their doors to visitors. A most excellent way to spend an afternoon. (Sept. 10-18 2016)

Tarland Food & Music Festival: what has become an annual event and just gets better every year. From ceilidhs to farm tours to farmers markets to cookery demonstrations to foraging walks to bee keeping there is absolutely something for every age. And its only 5 minutes drive from Cairngorm Lodges. (Sept. 23 -25 2016)

Food & Fiddle Fortnight: another annual event with dozens of events happening throughout the fortnight across Royal Deeside – an absolute must for foodie and musical folks. (Oct. 1 -16 2016)

Roar of the Reds: an amazing opportunity to experience the sights, sounds and smells of the red deer rut on the Invercauld Estate, Braemar. Includes a 2 mile walk. Booking essential (Oct. 14th 2016)

Illuminator – Night Trail Half Marathon: if you feel the need to test yourself physically then why not enter Scotland’s toughest night half marathon. Run or walk 15 dark miles over rugged hill trails with just the glow of your head torch to lead the way. See the natural beauty of Glen Tanar’s ancient Scots pine forest in a spectacular new light. (Oct. 29 2016)

Music and Ceilidh’s: this area is well known for its love of music so why not join in. Whether it be a ceilidh or a musical get together at the local you’ll be made most welcome.

And of course if you have anything in particular that you would like to do when staying at Cairngorm Lodges then just let Sarah know and she’ll be delighted to point you in the right direction.
