Fishing in the heart of the Scottish Highlands.

The River Dee and River Don, located near the Cairngorm Bothies, are classed as Scotland’s great fishing rivers and well known for the world’s best salmon fishing beats. It doesn’t stop there as the area boasts a multitude of lochs teeming with life.

The River Dee is considered one of the most majestic rivers in Scotland as it begins in the Cairngorm mountains and flows for over 80 miles through awe-inspiring scenery of Aberdeenshire before entering the North Sea at Aberdeen. Come and cast a fly over both rivers Dee and Don to experience the fast flowing crystal clear waters of Royal Deeside.

Loch Fishing

There are five lochs within close proximity to the lodges all offering different fishing experiences from brown trout to rainbow.

Wild Brown Trout Fishing

There are populations of brown trout within the River Dee catchment, each year good catches of trout can and are made, with the River Feugh tributary being a popular spot. Further up the River Dee valley there are wild and remote areas where small populations of brown trout can be sourced.

Coarse Fishing

Situated between Banchory and Ballater is the Aboyne Loch; an ideal location for coarse fishing. If you’re not an avid angler then coarse fish are freshwater fish that are not of the salmon family. The loch allows bait, spinning and fly fishing and hosts a mixture of fish including bream, carp, ide, perch, pike, roach and tench.

Salmon Fishing

The River Dee is known as one of the great salmon rivers in the world, we’re not just being biased, anyone who has fished for Atlantic salmon will appreciate the River Dee’s attributes and rich angling heritage. If you contact us we can put you in touch with a local ghillie who will provide you with rods, waders and tuition if required, so whether you are an expert or an absolute beginner Royal Deeside is the perfect place to fish.

Stocked Trout Fishing

The River Dee valley offers stocked fisheries all year round located near the main river stem. The trout fisheries are perfect for families and groups to have a go at catching the stocked fish. You can find brown, rainbow, blue, golden trout and some tagged fish that if caught will bring you a cash prize.
